Men's Soccer Falls to Evergreen State

Box Score OLYMPIA, Wash. – The University of Providence men's soccer program fell 2-1 to The Evergreen State College Saturday afternoon.

Both sides would threaten in the first ten minutes, but the Geoducks (6-5-4) would break through in the 11th minute to give Evergreen State a 1-0 lead.

The Argos (7-7-2) would answer with a pair of shots by freshman Geovanni Lugo and Hugo Gil, but neither were able to get past the Geoducks defenders.

Evergreen State extended their lead in the 34th minute when Alan Barragan found the back of the net. Each team had nine shots in the first half.

UP would cut into the lead when freshman Jose Vasquez was able to beat the goalkeeper for his 13th goal of the season.

Despite outshooting the Geoducks 15-6 in the second half, the Argos were unable to find the equalizer falling to The Evergreen State College 2-1.

Head coach Will Hander on his team's performance stated, "Our first half was horrible and we made some changes at halftime, but we needed more than 45 minutes to get the equalizer."

The Argos return to action on Friday, Oct. 27 when they host Carroll College. The first touch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. in Great Falls, Mont.
