GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The University of Providence men's basketball program begins their season at the Holiday Inn Classic this weekend. The Argos will face Corban University at 2:00 p.m. on Oct. 27 and the University of Jamestown on Oct. 28 at Noon. Both games will be played at the McLaughlin Center in Great Falls, Mont.
Head coach
J.C. Isakson on the beginning of their season stated, "We are excited to start competing and see where we are at. We open with two very good opponents. We will have to play hard, play smart, and play together."
UP is returning a few starters from last year including seniors
Davien Harris-Williams,
Jake Olsen,
Sam Vining, and junior
Kenny Curtis. Harris-Williams was named first team all-conference this preseason after being named to the second team last season. In total Curtis, Olsen, Vining, Harris-Williams, and other returners account for 82% of the scoring from last season.
The Argos have a few newcomers as well with seniorsÂ
Jaylin Reed,
Freddy Brown III,
Jevon Burton, and junior
Jamil Bowles. Isakson on the new recruits stated, "We have a lot of experience on this team with our returners and have added some key transfers. These new guys make us longer, deeper, and will help us offensively and defensively."
After the Holiday Inn Classic, the Argos will welcome the 2022-2023 National Champions #1 The College of Idaho on Nov. 4. Tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at the McLaughlin Center in Great Falls, Mont. Â
