Volleyball Defeats Rocky Mountain College 3-1

Box Score GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The University of Providence volleyball program defeated Rocky Mountain College 3-1 Thursday night.

In the first set the Argos jumped out to an early 7-1 lead behind a pair of kills from junior Allyah Tokelau. The Battlin' Bears would respond later in the set scoring six of eight to shorten the Argo lead to four, but kills by redshirt freshman Cabry Taylor and sophomore Ryann Eddins secured the first set for UP 25-14. Tokelau and Taylor led the way for the Argos with four kills apiece in the opening set.

The second set saw RMC get out to a 6-3 lead but kills by Taylor and freshman Martyna Fiedler tied the match at six. The Battlin' Bears would answer by scoring four in a row and would maintain that edge throughout the set winning 25-16.

In the third set RMC took a 10-5 lead before the Argos scored five straight to tie the match at 10. The set would go back and forth with six more ties until UP scored the final two points to take the set 25-22. Tokelau led the way for the Argos with seven kills in the third set.

The fourth set was back and forth until a pair of kills from junior Nina Janjic gave the Argos a 15-11 lead. Despite a late run by RMC, UP would maintain their lead taking the fourth set 25-19 and the match 3-1.

Tokelau led the Argos with 18 kills and senior Jenna Thorne and Taylor added 10 apiece. Junior Nati Slazynska had 33 assists and defensively, senior Taylor Christensen had 20 digs.

The Argos will be back in action Oct. 7 when they host Montana Western. The match is scheduled to start at 2 p.m. in the McLaughlin Center.
