Box Score HELENA, Mont. – The University of Providence women's basketball program fell 78-72 to #10 LC State Saturday afternoon.
The Warriors (4-1) scored the first points of the game, but a three-pointer by senior
Kolby Pimperton gave the Argos (7-2) a 3-2 lead.
Each side would trade baskets but jumpers by senior
Maddy Dixon and graduate transfer
Ashlee Maldonado extended the UP lead to five.
It would be back and forth the rest of the first quarter but a turnaround jumper as time expired from Maldonado gave UP a 20-19 lead after the first.
The Warriors would start the second quarter on a 10-2 run, but a three-pointer by freshman
Taliah Lee cut the lead to four.
Both teams exchanged baskets the rest of the first half and despite a layup from Dixon as time expired, the Argos went into the break trailing by eight.
LC State would score the first points of the second half, but a layup by Dixon made it 42-34.
The Warriors would increase their lead to 13, but a three pointer by Maldonado and a jumper by sophomore
McKenna Reggear cut the lead to seven.
UP would continue their run with a layup from Pimperton and a jumper from freshman
Monique Carter to make it a three-point game. Â
LC State would increase their lead to eight to start the fourth quarter but a three by Reggear and a jumper by Maldonado brought the game back within three.
The Warriors would answer extending their lead back to seven but a three-pointer by Pimperton kept the game within four.
Despite a late run from the Argos, they were unable to complete the comeback, falling to LC State 78-72.
The Argos will be back in action Dec. 2 when they travel to Havre, Mont. Tip-off versus Valley City State is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. at the Armory Gymnasium.
