GREAT FALLS, Mont. -- The University of Providence men's wrestling program competed at the Battle of the Rockies tournament throughout the day Saturday.

The Argos had five wrestlers place first in redshirt freshman Jalen Vladic, freshman Pig Hobbs, redshirt freshman Chase Youso, #17 junior Liam Swanson, and #3 redshirt senior KC Buday.

Vladic went 3-0 on the day defeating Devan Larkin 17-1 and pinning Caleb Nadig in his first two matches. In the championship, Vladic defeated teammate Dougie Swanson 6-0 to take home first place.

Hobbs opened his tournament pinning his first opponent in 39 seconds. In his second match, Hobbs picked up a ranked win defeating #9 Devin Crawford of MSU-Northern.

Youso went 4-0 at the Battle of the Rockies pinning all four of his opponents. Youso pinned his first opponent in 53 seconds, and followed that up with pins in 1:11, 2:41, and 4:21 in the championship.

Swanson also went 3-0 on the day pinning Kyle Caldwell and defeating Taran Goring 15-1 in his first two matches. In the championship, Swanson was tied 6-6 at the end of three periods and secured a clutch takedown in overtime to take down #9 Carl Hansen of MSU-Northern.

Buday also continued his hot streak after defeating the #2 ranked wrestler last night going 3-0 while pinning AJ Harris and defeating Cody Pinkerton via tiebreaker.

UP also had three wrestlers place second in redshirt freshman Aidan Go, junior Dougie Swanson, and #21 redshirt sophomore Ethan DeRoche.

The Argos will be back in action Dec. 7 when they host Eastern Oregon University. The match will begin at 6:00 p.m. in the McLaughlin Center.
