Argos Fall in Exhibition to Trojans

Box Score BILLINGS, Mont. – The University of Providence men's basketball program fell 95-89 in an exhibition to Southern Alberta Institute of Technology Saturday night.
 
The Argos (7-6) would make the first basket of the game when senior Jaylin Reed found senior Jake Olsen for a layup.
 
The Trojans (8-2) would respond with a 10-0 run to take an eight-point lead.

Both sides would go back and forth until layups by seniors Eric Milner and Jevon Burton cut the lead to five halfway through the first twenty minutes.

Each team traded buckets the rest of the first half, but layups by Olsen and Burton cut the lead to one with a minute remaining.

The Trojans would end the half on a 6-0 run to go into the break leading the Argos 52-45.

Olsen opened the second half with a dunk, but a pair of layups by SAIT increased the Trojan lead to nine.

The Argos would answer with a jumper by senior Davien Harris-Williams and an and one by Burton to make it 58-54.

UP would continue their momentum with a three and a layup by Burton to make it a one-point game midway through the second half.

The Trojans would make a free throw, but a deep three by junior Kenny Curtis gave the Argos a 64-63 lead.

There would be three lead changes over the next four minutes until a 5-0 run from the Trojans retook the lead for SAIT 74-69.

UP would not go away with Harris-Williams hitting a three and senior Sam Vining converting an and one to tie the game at 78 with five minutes remaining.

The Trojans would hit a pair of threes to extend their lead to six and despite late free throws from Harris-Williams, the Argos fell in an exhibition against Southern Alberta Institute of Technology.

The Argos will be back in action Jan. 6 for their Frontier Conference opener versus Carroll College. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. in Great Falls, Mont. at the McLaughlin Center.
