GREAT FALLS, Mont. -- The University of Providence men's soccer program hosts Multnomah University on Sept. 22 and Warner Pacific University of Sept. 23. The first touch is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Argo Field for both matchups. Head coach
Will Hander on this weekend's matches stated, "We are looking forward to playing at home this weekend. After a long stretch on the road the guys are excited to be back in Great Falls. We have some tough competition this weekend and it's going to be some good games for Argo fans to watch."
Last Time Out
The Argos visited College Place, Wash. where they defeated Walla Wall University 2-0. UP jumped out in front when senior
Tomeu Nebot Schmalfeld scored his first goal of the season. Freshman
Jose Vasquez then extended the UP lead in the 65
th minute to make it 2-0. The Argos outshout the Wolves 19 to 12 and 10 to three on goal. Â
Season Leaders
After taking ten shots and scoring two goals last weekend Vasquez is now the goal and shot leader for the Argos with three goals and 16 shots. Five Argos are tied with one assist each in freshman
Hugo Gil,
Geovanni Lugo,
Liam Vaux, and senior
Kolby Hayes and Schmalfeld each have one apiece. In goal, freshman
Teddy Benbow is the leader with 17 saves so far this season.
Multnomah
The Argos have won nine matches in a row against the Multnomah Lions including a 2-1 road victory in their most recent matchup. Multnomah is 2-4 so far this season, losing 1-0 to Southern Oregon University their last time out. Â
Warner Pacific
UP is 6-4 versus Warner Pacific in their last ten matchups. The Argos won six straight from 2012-2018 before falling in the last three meetings with the Knights. Warner Pacific is 3-3 this season and is coming off a 1-0 loss to Oregon Tech their last time out.
