GREAT FALLS, Mont. -- The University of Providence men's soccer program travels to Salem, Ore. to play Corban University on Sept. 29 before traveling to Eugene, Ore. on Sept. 30 to compete against Bushnell University. Head coach
Will Hander on this weekend's matchups stated, "I've tried to handle winning well, so that maybe we'll win again, but I've also tried to handle failure well. If those serve as good examples for teachers and kids, then I hope that would be a contribution I have made to sport. Not just soccer, but to sport."
Last Time Out
The Argos went 1-1 on the weekend defeating Multnomah but falling to Warner Pacific. Freshman
Jose Vasquez scored all four of the Argos goals in their 4-1 victory over the Lions and was named the Cascade Collegiate Conference Offensive player of the week. Freshman
Geovanni Lugo also added two assists in the victory over Multnomah.
Season Leaders
Vasquez is the goal scoring leader for UP with eight after scoring four versus Multnomah. Freshman
Geovanni Lugo has the most assists on the team with three and five Argos are tied with one assist each in freshman
Hugo Gil,
Liam Vaux, junior
Jack Rimstad, and seniors
Kolby Hayes and
Tomeu Nebot Schmalfeld. In goal, freshman
Teddy Benbow is the leader with 25 saves so far this season.
Corban University
The Argos are 0-9-1 all-time versus the Warriors with the lone tie coming in a neutral site matchup in 2015. Corban is 1-3-3 this season and is coming off a 3-2 victory over Oregon Tech their last time out.
Bushnell University
UP is 5-4 all-time versus the Beacons but fell 2-1 at home in their meeting last season. Bushnell is 4-1-2 so far this season and is coming off a 3-0 loss to Oregon Tech their last time out.
