9/8/2023 7:43:00 PM

Box Score BILLINGS, Mont. – The University of Providence men's soccer team faced off in a neutral site matchup against the University of Jamestown Friday night.

The Jimmies (1-3-1) had pressure on the Argos (2-2) early in the first half, but junior Zach Reese made a defensive save to keep the match tied at zero.

In the second half a corner kick by senior Tomeu Nebot Schmalfeld was headed away by the Jimmies, but freshman Hugo Gil launched the bouncing ball past the keeper to give the Argos a 1-0 lead. This was Gil's first career goal for the Argos.

Head coach Will Hander on the win stated, "I'm extremely proud of our guys. We started off slow and the weather delay gave us a chance to regroup and we were able to grind out a victory."

The Argos return to action Sept. 15 when they go back to Billings, Mont. to face Rocky Mountain College. The first touch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
