The University of Providence men's soccer program fell to Northwest University 3-1 Saturday afternoon.
The Eagles (4-7-5) scored the first goal of the game in the 26
th minute, but 30 seconds later the Argos (2-13) found the equalizer when senior
Vincent Stoppel's cross found senior
Tomeu Nebot Schmalfeld who headed it past the goalkeeper. Â Â
The Argos had shots by Schmalfeld, freshman
Noah Watson, and sophomore
Ryan Baldwin the rest of the half, but Northwest University would add a goal in the 41
st minute as UP went into the break trailing 2-1.
Northwest University added a goal in the 80
th minute, and despite late shots from senior
Marcus John and Schmalfeld, the Argos fell to the Eagles 3-1.
The Argos will be back in action Sunday, Nov. 3, when they travel to Helena, Mont. The first touch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. (MST) versus Carroll College. Â Â
