GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The University of Providence women's basketball program defeated The Master's University 84-71 Saturday night.

The Mustangs (3-1) scored the first basket of the game, but a layup from sophomore Keanna Salave'a on the other end made it 3-2.

The Master's would slowly extend their lead out to eight, but threes from junior Ainsley Thurber and senior Ashlee Maldonado kept it a two-point game midway through the first quarter.

Both teams would trade baskets the last four minutes as UP went into the break trailing 26-25.

The Master's increased their lead back out to eight to begin the second, but the Argos ended the half on an 11-0 run behind a three from junior Camryn Cartwright to put UP ahead 43-40 going into the break.

The game would see ties at 45, 48, and 50 to begin the second half but the Argos slowly extended their lead out to 11 following a pair of layups and a three from Cartwright.

The Argos were able to control the game the rest of the way as UP defeated The Master's 84-71. Maldonado and Salave'a led the way with 22 points apiece and Thurber and sophomore Taliah Lee added 11 and nine, respectively.

The Argos will be back in action Friday, Nov. 15, when they travel to Gilbert, Ariz. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. versus Park University Gilbert (AZ).
