GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The University of Providence men's basketball program cruised to a 103-58 victory over the University of Maine at Fort Kent Monday night.
The Argos (3-4) scored the first six points of the game behind three-pointers from senior Mike Wright Jr. and junior Ryan Chavez, and following a basket from the Bengals, a pair of layups from senior Nikolajs Atanasovs put UP ahead 10-2.
Both teams would trade baskets until a 13-2 run from the Argos off a three-pointer from junior Brendan Redhead put UP in front 31-18 ten minutes into the game.
The Argos slowly extended their lead the rest of the half outscoring the Bengals 14-7 to go into the halftime leading 45-20.
Over the first five minutes of the second half the Argos pushed their lead out to 30 and continued their momentum the rest of the way as UP cruised to a 103-58 victory over the University of Maine at Fort Kent.
Brendan Redhead led the way with 21 points and Mike Wright Jr. and Antoine Boyd Jr. added 17 apiece.
The Argos will be back in action Friday, Dec. 13 when they host Northwest University. Tip-off is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. in Great Falls, Mont.
