DILLON, Mont. – The University of Providence women's basketball program fell to Montana Western 69-52 Thursday night.

The Argos (14-7) scored the first basket of the game off a jumper from senior Maddy Dixon, but a 6-0 run from Bulldogs (12-9) gave Montana Western a 6-2 lead.

An and one from freshman Keanna Salave'a would cut the lead to one, but a pair of free throws from the Bulldogs pushed the lead back out to three.

Montana Western would slowly extend their lead out to 14 to take a 26-12 lead midway through the second quarter.

Freshman Eliannah Ramirez would make a pair of jumpers but a 14-4 run to end the half for the Bulldogs gave Montana Western a 40-18 lead going into the break.  

The Argos would open the second half with a jumper from senior Kolby Pimperton and a three from Ramirez to cut the lead to 19, but a pair of baskets from the Bulldogs pushed the lead out to 24.

Despite a pair of threes from Pimperton to cut the lead to 17, the Argos were unable to get within striking distance, falling to Montana Western 69-52.

The Argos will be back in action Feb. 3 when they host MSU-Northern. Tip-off versus the Skylights is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. in Great Falls, Mont.
