Argos Open Up Conference Play 2-0

EAST HELENA, Mont. - - The University of Providence softball program opened conference play 2-0 defeating Corban University 11-1 (5) and 8-0 (5). In game two, graduate transfer Madi Moore threw a complete game no-hit shutout and tallied 11 strikeouts for the Argos.

In game one the Argos (4-3) struck first when graduate transfer Madi Moore scored on a wild pitch and later in the inning senior Deven Creech helped herself with an RBI single to center to put UP ahead 2-0.

The Warriors would get one back in the top of the second, but in the bottom of the third a double to right from junior Sydnee Weber made it 3-1.

After Weber scored on a wild pitch, sophomore Tiffany Fuentes singled to right field to score Creech, and the Argos would not stop there with back-to-back run scoring infield hits to increase the lead to four.

UP would score another four runs in the third after a pair of two RBI singles by senior Gracie Fleming and Creech put the Argos ahead for good. Creech threw all five innings for the Argos and also was the leader at the plate with three RBIs.

In game two the Argos continued their dominant outing scoring two runs in the first inning after senior Macy Mangold doubled to center and a based loaded walk for junior Ryen Palmer put UP ahead 2-0.

Fleming, Weber, and Azia Umphrey would add RBIs in the second inning to put the Argos ahead 6-0, and in the fourth inning another based loaded walk from sophomore Marilyn Comack and a SAC fly from Fuentes gave the Argos the 8-0 victory via run rule.

Moore threw all five innings for the Argos, striking out 11 and giving up zero hits and zero runs.
