GREAT FALLS, Mont. – Senior
Tomeu Nebot Schmalfeld and freshman
Eliannah Ramirez have been named the 2023-2024 UP Strength and Conditioning Athletes of the Month for January.
Head strength and conditioning coach
Lucky Lovan can nominate one athlete per sport to be a National Strength and Conditioning Association All-American each year.
The University of Providence nominates two athletes per month to reward the student-athletes hard work and dedication to the weight room. This puts them in contention to be named a NSCA strength and conditioning All-American.
Schmalfeld is from Son Servera, Spain and has played three years on the men's soccer team at UP. Head strength and conditioning coach Lucky Lovan stated, "I'm really impressed with the progress Tomeu has made in the weight room. It's a testament to his hard work and dedication to being the best. He always gives a 110% effort every lift session. Even on the days we don't lift, he comes into the weight room to work on his fitness or get an extra workout. His consistency stacked upon months has resulted in him being named 2nd Team All-Conference and named one of the captains of the men's soccer team. This is only the beginning for him."
Rameriz is from Spokane Valley, Wash. and is entering her first season for Argo women's basketball. Lovan stated, "Eliannah always comes to lift with the mindset of getting better. There hasn't been a day where she hasn't given her absolute best. She understands the value of hard work and it's showing in the weight room and on the basketball court. She's only a freshman but has the maturity beyond her years. I'm very proud of all the progress she's made in her lifts and I'm excited to see her grow during her time at UP."
