Box Score BUTTE, Mont. – The University of Providence men's basketball program fell to #11 Montana Tech 89-57 Thursday night.
The Argos scored the first points of the game off a hook shot from senior
Jake Olsen but following a free throw by senior
Jaylin Reed, a 5-0 run from the Orediggers gave Montana Tech a two-point edge.
A layup from senior
Jevon Burton would tie the game at five but a 11-4 run from Montana Tech pushed the Oredigger lead out to seven.
Burton would respond with a 8-0 run by himself to give the Argos a 17-16 lead midway through the first half. Burton scored 12 points in the first 10 minutes for UP.
Over the next five minutes the Orediggers would go on an 11-1 run to take a 28-18 lead.
Each side would trade baskets the rest of the half until a layup by Burton cut the Montana Tech advantage to 34-27 going into the break.
A layup from Olsen would cut the lead to five to open the second half, but 14-1 run from the Orediggers extended the Montana Tech lead out to 15.
Over the next five minutes the Orediggers would increase their lead to 25 and despite a late run from the Argos, UP fell to Montana Tech 89-57.
The Argos will be back in action Feb. 10 when travel to Billings, Mont. Tip-off versus Rocky Mountain College is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. at the Fortin Education Center.
