GREAT FALLS, Mont. - - The University of Providence softball program fell 9-3 and 14-6 to Carroll College Thursday afternoon.
In game one the Argos jumped in front in the bottom of the first when junior
Ryen Palmer hit her first collegiate home run with a two-run blast to left field.
The Fighting Saints would score two in top of the fourth to tie the game at two, and following Carroll taking a 3-2 lead in the top of the sixth, a double from junior
Sydnee Weber scored Palmer to tie the game at three.
Carroll would score six runs in the top of the seventh and the Argos were unable to make a comeback falling 9-3 in game one.
In game two the Fighting Saints jumped in front with four runs over the first three innings, but in the bottom half of the third the Argos got two runs back courtesy of a double to center field from senior
Macy Mangold.
Carroll College would score four runs in the top of the fourth, but in the bottom of the fifth Weber doubled to center field to score Palmer and senior
Gracie Fleming to cut the lead to four.
The Argos continued their momentum with an RBI single from sophomore
Kolbi Wood and an RBI double from senior
Azia Umphrey to make it 8-6 heading into the seventh.
The Fighting Saints would score six runs in the top of the seventh, and despite late pressure from the Argos, UP fell to Carroll College 14-6.
