EUGENE, Ore. - - The University of Providence softball program split in a pair of games versus Bushnell University Saturday falling 5-3 and winning 5-1

In game one the Beacons would go ahead 4-0 after the first two innings, but in the top of the fourth a liner from sophomore Kolbi Wood got past the second baseman and scored two runs to cut the Bushnell lead in half.

The Argos would continue their momentum with sophomore Tiffany Fuentes singling up the middle to bring the game within one after the fourth.

Despite pressure from the Argos in the top of the sixth, the Beacons would add another run in the bottom half as UP fell to Bushnell 5-3.

In the final game of the series the Argos jumped in front when senior Azia Umphrey tripled to right field to score graduate transfer Madi Moore.

UP would add another two runs in the top of the first when Umphrey scored on a double-steal attempt and Wood singled to right field to put the Argos ahead 3-0.

The Argos extended their lead to four in the top of the second after an error from Bushnell allowed Moore to come around to score.

The Argos would add another run in the top of the fifth courtesy of a single from Wood, and despite the Beacons scoring a run in the bottom of the seventh, UP defeated Bushnell 5-1.
