Argos Head to Jamestown for a Pair of Matchups

GREAT FALLS, Mont. -- The University of Providence men's soccer program travels to Jamestown, N.D. for their season opener. The Argos will play two matches with their first coming against the University of Jamestown on Aug. 23 and they will also face Dakota Wesleyan on Aug. 24.   

Returners
The Argos have many key contributors returning this season including senior Tomeu Nebot Schmalfeld who was a second team all-conference selection and tied the program record for assists in a single game with four last season. Other returners for the Argos include senior Geovanni Lugo who was third on the team in points with eight, seniors Vincent Stoppel, Marcus John, and sophomore goalkeeper Teddy Benbow who was a Cascade Collegiate Conference Defender of the Week last season.

Newcomers
The Argos also have many newcomers on the roster this season including freshman Ole Heinsohn from Lehre, Germany, Sherry Msuku from Blatyre, Malawi, and sophomore Elian Martinez from Valencia, Venezuela.  

University of Jamestown
The Argos are 4-5-1 in their last 10 matchups with the Jimmies including their 1-0 victory in Billings, Mont. last season. This matchup will be the season opener for both UP and Jamestown at 4 p.m. (MST) on Aug. 23.

Dakota Wesleyan University
This is the first meeting in program history between the Argos and the Wildcats. Dakota Wesleyan finished last season with a record of 7-9-1 and will face the Argos for their 2024 season opener at 2 p.m. (MST) on Aug. 24.
