Argos Defeat Warner Pacific For Fourth Straight Victory

9/27/2024 3:20:00 PM

Box Score PORTALND, Ore. – A second half goal from freshman Andriah Watson secured the Argos fourth straight victory over Warner Pacific Friday afternoon.

The Knights (2-5-1) had the first chance of the game when a pass into the box found a wide-open attacker but missed wide of the net.

A few moments later the Argos (5-1-1) had an opportunity when senior Ernestina S. Ofori found freshman Brooklyn Poole, but her shot was saved by the goalkeeper.

Neither side was able to put on any pressure the rest of the half as the Argos went into halftime tied at zero.

In the second half neither side could put anything together until sophomore Shea Waters put the ball forward to senior Mel Alvarado-Lopez who put the ball into the box and before it could land freshman Andriah Watson put it into the back of the net to put the Argos ahead 1-0.

The Argos would have another chance a few minutes later but Alvarado-Lopez's shot went just wide of the goal.

Despite the Argos being down a player due to a second yellow for the final 15 minutes, the Argos defense stepped up down the stretch including 13 saves from freshman Chloe Pajaro to secure the 1-0 victory. With four straight wins for the Argos, it is their longest win streak since the 2014 season.

The Argos will be back in action tomorrow Sept. 28 when they face Multnomah. The first touch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. (MST) in Portland, Ore.
