CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The University of Providence women's wrestling program defeated #13 Texas Wesleyan 34-15 and #5 William Penn 36-11 to advance to the semifinals of the National Dual Meet Championships.

The Argos started strong following a forfeit by Texas Wesleyan at 103, #4 Paige Morales pinned Kaitlyn Rodriguez in 27 seconds to put UP ahead 10-0.

Following another forfeit at 117, #7 Alyssa Randles picked up a TF victory over Carolina Rios, #1 Waipuilani Estrella-Beauchamp pinned #2 Samantha Barragan in 26 seconds, and #9 Esther Han pinned Pella LaFever in 52 seconds to secure the opening round dual for the Argos.

In the quarterfinal match against #5 William Penn the Argos won the first three matches when #1 Erin Hikiji defeated #13 Lillian Zapata, #4 Paige Morales pinned her second opponent of the day in under 30 seconds, and #20 Alicia Frank pinned Kylie Buston in 27 seconds.

Following a pair of losses from the Argos, UP rattled off five straight victories started by #1 Waipuilani Estrella-Beauchamp defeating #4 Kendall Bostelman 12-1.

#9 Aspen Dodge also won via tech fall defeating #14 Nadia Abdijanovic 12-2, and Hailey Sutton and Frances Porteous both pinned ranked opponents with Sutton pinning Alexa Wolf in 5:37 and Porteous pinning #15 Grace Gray in 3:53.

The Argos wrapped up the dual with freshman Jasmine Adiniwin's first dual victory of her career defeating Phoebe Burt 18-16.

The Argos will be back in action tomorrow, Jan. 11 for semifinals of the National Dual Meet Championships. UP will wrestle #1 Life at 10:30 a.m. (CST) in the Uni-Dome.
