CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The University of Providence men's wrestling program defeated #5 Embry-Riddle and #19 Missouri Valley to place fifth at the National Dual Meet Championships Saturday.

In the opening dual versus #19 Missouri Valley #18 Kobi Johnson put the Argos ahead with a 5-1 decision over #24 Robert Albert.

Following a loss at 133, the Argos won the next three matches with #17 Tristan Bremer winning by tech fall, Jalen Vladic winning by major decision, and #1 Aden Graves pinning Makoa Goeas in 1:01.

The Argos would win three of the final five matches with #13 Bridger Hall defeating Trevor Wilson, and #5 Sawyer Hobbs defeating Drake Tipton to secure the dual for the Argos. With the dual already in hand, #14 Ethan DeRoche picked up ranked win pinning #23 Jayden Joseph in 5:53.

In the fifth-place match and rematch with #5 Embry-Riddle, the Eagles got on the board first, but at 133 Na'u McBrayer picked up his second win of the weekend over Jaren Kimura defeating him 7-3 to tie up the match.

Tristan Bremer picked up his second victory of the day with a win over Christian Lopez to wrap up his weekend 4-1, and Pig Hobbs would add a win of his own defeating #12 Logan Hancey 5-1.

The Argos dropped the next two matches but rattled off three straight victories to end the dual with Abel Nava Jr. pinning Wyatt Rewerts, #5 Sawyer Hobbs pinning Trenton Blomquist, and #14 Ethan DeRoche defeated Corbin Hayes 7-2 to secure the dual for UP 24-15.

The Argos will be back in action Jan. 24-25 for the Missouri Valley Invitational. Argos will compete throughout the weekend in Marshall, Mo.
