Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Argos Fall to Fighting Saints

HELENA, Mont. -- The University of Providence women's basketball program fell to #21 Carroll College 65-61 Saturday afternoon.

The Fighting Saints (9-5) scored the first basket of the game, but a three-pointer from senior Kolby Pimperton and a layup from sophomore Keanna Salave'a put the Argos (9-3) ahead by three.

Both sides would go back and forth with neither team grabbing a lead by more than four as UP went into the second tied at 15.

The Argos were able to grab the lead to begin the second quarter behind a pair of layups from sophomore Monique Carter to make it 21-18.

UP continued their momentum with Salave'a going on an 8-0 run by herself to increase the Argo lead to eight.

Carroll slowly cut into the lead the rest of the half as UP took a 34-33 edge into the break. Salave'a led the way with 13 points in the first half.

The Fighting Saints outscored UP 11-5 over the first eight minutes, but five straight from Salave'a to end the quarter made it a one-point game heading into the fourth.

The Argos extended their lead out to eight to begin the fourth quarter, but Carroll scored the final 12 points of the game as UP fell to Carroll College 65-61.

The Argos will be back in action Thursday, January 9th when they host Rocky Mountain College. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. at the McLaughlin Center.
