Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Argos Fall to Eastern Oregon 3-2

LA GRANDE, Ore. -- The University of Providence women's soccer program fell to Eastern Oregon 3-2 Friday night.

The Mountaineers (11-4-1) had the first opportunity of the game when in the second minute a shot from 50 yards out from Peyton Jacaway bounced past the Argo goalkeeper to give Eastern Oregon a 1-0 lead.

The Argos (4-8-2) responded a minute later when sophomore Peyton Schmauch chipped it over the defenders to senior Kailey Camper and her sliding shot went top corner to tie the game at one.

Eastern Oregon would not go away, adding a goal in the 17th minute, and despite a late shot from junior Shea Waters, UP went into the break trailing 2-1.

The Mountaineers pressured to begin the second half, scoring a minute and a half in, but the Argos quickly answered a minute later when Camper crossed the ball into the box to sophomore Andriah Watson whose rolling shot found the back of the net to cut the Eastern Oregon lead to one.

Both sides went back-and-forth over the next thirty minutes with no real chance, but over the final three minutes the Argos put three shots on frame from Schmauch, sophomore Anisia Ramirez, and senior Gabby McVay, however none were able to get past the Mountaineer goalkeeper as the Argos fell to Eastern Oregon 3-2.

The Argos will be back in action Saturday, Oct. 24 when they head to Caldwell, Idaho. The first touch is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. (MST) versus The College of Idaho.
