GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The University of Providence men's basketball program fell to MSU-Northern 98-82 Thursday night.
The Lights (4-1) scored the first baskets of the game but a jumper from senior Brendan Redhead on the other end tied the game at two.
MSU-Northern quickly extended the lead out to six and both teams would trade baskets until five straight from the Argos (0-6) brought the game within two.
The Lights answered with an 8-0 run to put MSU-Northern in front 38-28 but the Argos slowly fought back with a three from junior Marvel Chambers Jr. at the buzzer to go into halftime trailing 45-40.
Both teams went back-and-forth to begin the second half until a 14-2 run from the Lights gave MSU-Northern a 67-50 edge.
The Argos were unable to get within 10 the rest of the way as UP fell to MSU-Northern 98-82 in the Frontier Conference opener.
Four Argos reached double-digit scoring in Chambers Jr. with 21, Redhead added 15, and freshman Anthony Hobbs and senoir Jakub Lloyd tallied 10 apiece. Â
The Argos will be back in action on Saturday, Nov. 15 when they host Northwest University. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. (MST) in Great Falls, Mont.
