GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The University of Providence men's basketball program defeated MSU-Northern 68-59 Saturday night.
The Argos (12-10) scored the first basket of the game off a three pointer from senior
Dylan Hushaw, but a 8-0 run from the Lights (7-15) put MSU-Northern ahead by five.
Both teams traded baskets until a dunk from senior
Jamil Bowles tied the score at 15 midway through the first half.

Over the next five minutes the Lights would build a lead that extended to as many as eight until freshman
Quinn Swanson made a layup to make it 28-22

The Argos would slowly work their way back into the game off a jumper from senior
Antoine Boyd Jr. and a layup from senior
Nikolajs Atanasovs, but the Skylights held a 30-29 lead going into the second half.
Quinn Swanson scored a team high seven points at the break.

MSU-Northern would score the first points of the second half on a pair of free throws to extend the lead to three.

Each side exchanged baskets over the next ten minutes with the Lights continuing to narrowly hold on to a three-point edge until with three minutes remaining the Argos took the lead with a putback layup from
Jamil Bowles and a pair of step-back threes from
Ryan Chavez put UP ahead 58-55. Â Â

A pair of free throws from
Antoine Boyd Jr. extended the Argos lead to five with under a minute left, and despite late pressure from the Lights, UP made their free throws down the stretch to defeat MSU-Northern 68-59.

Jamil Bowles led the way for UP with 23 points and
Antoine Boyd Jr. added 13.
The Argos will be back in action Thursday, Feb. 6 when they return home to face #9 Montana Tech. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in the McLaughlin Center.
