MINOT, ND. - - The University of Providence softball program split their pair of games on day one at the Bubble Invite defeating Minnesota Moorhead 7-5 and falling to the University of Mary 17-8.
 
In the opening game of the season the Argos (1-1) fell behind early giving up three runs in the top of the first, but in the bottom half of the inning, a single from freshman Kaily Gull scored senior Sydnee Weber to get the Argos on the board.
 
UP would continue their momentum with a two RBI double from senior Brynn Cullen and an infield single from senior Sydney Wilting gave the Argos a 4-3 lead.
 
The University of Mary would outscore the Argos 14-3 the rest of the way as UP fell to the Buccaneers 17-8 in five innings.
 
In game two the Argos fell behind 2-0 after the top of the third, but in the bottom half of the inning the Argos answered with a double from Weber and an RBI single from junior Tiffany Fuentes to tie the game at two.
 
UP did not stop their scoring another three runs off a bases loaded walk from Olivia Roe and an infield single from Wilting to give the Argos a 5-2 lead.
 
The Dragons slowly cut into the lead bringing the game within one, but an RBI double from Kasidy Yeoman secured the Argos 7-5 victory over Minnesota Moorhead.
 
Cullen lead the way for UP finishing the double-header 2-4 with two RBI's and two walks, Yeoman went 2-5 with three RBI's and Ashley Mitchell picked up her first win as an Argo with a complete game against Minnesota Moorhead.
