Box Score GREAT FALLS, Mont. -- The University of Providence
men's soccer team fell to Bushnell University 3-0 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference opener Thursday night.
The Beacons (7-0) had the first opportunity of the game in the 15
th minute when Omar Barajas found some room, but his shot was saved by freshman
Andrew Schoenen.
Bushnell would continue their momentum scoring just under a minute later when Javier Gutierrez found Emilio Alfaro whose shot beat Schoenen to put the Beacons ahead 1-0.
Neither side would threaten the rest of the half as the Argos (0-4-1) went into the break trailing by one.
The Beacons put pressure on to start the second half with a header from Barajas, but it just went wide of the net.
Five minutes later the pressure paid off for Bushnell as Javier Gutierrez's through ball found Barajas who went short side on the goalkeeper and found the back of the net to put the Beacons in front 2-0.
Bushnell added another goal in the 66
th minute from Danny Rojas, and despite late pressure from the Argos, UP fell to Bushnell 3-0.
The Argos will be back in action Saturday, Sept. 20 when they host Corban University. The first touch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. in Great Falls, Mont. Â
