Argos Head to Colorado for Season Opener

GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The University of Providence men's hockey program heads to Colorado for three games in three days to open the season. Puck drop is scheduled for 8:45 p.m. against the University of Denver on Thursday, at 2:00 p.m. versus MSU-Denver on Friday, and 12:30 p.m. against Colorado on Saturday.

"I am very excited about this weekend! Entering year one for both Charles and I, we want to get the Argo Hockey program back to the ACHA National Tournament. We have a skilled team that is hungry for this season and can't wait to get on the ice and face someone besides their teammates." Head coach Dajon Mingo stated, "Expectations need to be met this year, and the boys and staff are all in and it starts with this weekend. It's the opening slate of contests but must win games as well."

Last Season
The Argos finished the 2024-2025 season with a 23-11 record picking up 10 ranked victories and advanced to the ACHA West Regional where they fell to the University of Texas. UP saw senior Adam Husli set a new program record in single season points with 52 and tied the program record for single season goals with 24. Junior AJ Belanger also entered the record books setting a new program record with 32 single season assists.

Returners
The Argos return quite a few contributors from last season's team including seniors Colby Friedrich, Adam Husli, and juniors AJ Belanger, Jamal Kalaf, Chavez Constant and Chris Fines. Husli led the team in goals with 24 and points with 52 in 2024-25 and Friedrich was second in both categories with 22 and 48, while goaltender Chris Fines started 10 games with a save percentage of .908.  

University of Denver
The Pioneers were ranked #14 in the final ACHA Rankings of 2024-2025 after finishing their season 12-15. This will be the second matchup in program history between the Argos and Pioneers with UP taking the lone matchup 3-2 last season in Great Falls.

MSU-Denver
The Roadrunners were ranked #3 in the final ACHA Rankings of 2024-2025 after finishing their season 16-12. This will be the second matchup in program history between the Argos and MSU-Denver with UP taking the lone matchup 7-2 last season in Great Falls.

University of Colorado
The Buffaloes were ranked #6 in the final ACHA Rankings of 2024-2025 after finishing their season 18-8. This will be the first matchup in program history between the Argos and the Buffaloes.
