DILLON, Mont. -- The University of Providence women's basketball team fell to Montana Western 60-46 Saturday night.
The Bulldogs (7-8) scored the first basket of the game but jumper on the other end from senior McKenna Reggear tied the game at two.
Both teams traded baskets for the rest of the quarter with a pair of free throws from freshman Madi Reibel and Reggear giving the Argos (10-7) a 14-11 lead heading into the break.
The Argos slowly pushed the lead out to five to begin the second quarter, but an 8-0 run from the Bulldogs gave Montana Western a 24-21 lead.
The Argos responded by outscoring Montana Western 5-1 the rest of the half with a layup from senior Sofia Mokofisi tying the game at 26 heading into the break.
The second half started off with ties at 28 and 30 before four-straight from the Bulldogs put Montana Western ahead 34-30.
The Argos slowly cut into the lead the rest of the quarter with free throws from Dial shortening the Montana Western advantage to 42-40 heading into the fourth.
Montana Western opened the fourth quarter with a 10-2 run to extend the lead to 10, and despite late pressure from the Argos, UP fell to Montana Western 60-46.
The Argos will be back in action Friday, Jan. 16 when they host #17 Rocky Mountain College. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. (MST) in Great Falls, Mont. Â
