GREAT FALLS, Mont. -- The University of Providence men's soccer program fell to Southern Oregon University 4-0 Thursday afternoon.
The Raiders (8-1-1) had the first opportunity of the game in the eighth minute when a free kick from outside the box by Ariel De Dios Cruz found the back of the net to put Southern Oregon ahead 1-0.
Southern Oregon continued their momentum, adding a goal in the 13
th minute when a ball into the box went off a Raider attacker and ricocheted off an Argo defender's head and into the back of the net to put Southern Oregon ahead 2-0.
The Raiders controlled possession the rest of the half out shooting the Argos (2-6-1) 3-0 as UP went into the break trailing by two.
Southern Oregon did not let up after halftime, getting off four shots over the first 15 minutes until the 62
nd when a ball into the box from Jose Mondesi Munoz found Agustin Gannat who headed it past the goalkeeper to extend the Raider lead to 3-0.
Ariel De Dios Cruz added his second goal of the contest down the stretch, and despite a late shot from senior
Liam Vaux, UP fell to Southern Oregon 4-0.
The Argos will be back in action on Saturday, Oct. 10 when they host Oregon Tech at 2:30 p.m. in Great Falls.
