GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The University of Providence has announced that six individuals and two teams will be joining the Argo Athletics Hall of Fame in 2026. Stephanie McDonagh, Tanner Boone, Ryan Smith, Les Marsh, Shawn Lau, Ryan O'Neil, and the 2014-2015 and 2015-2016 women's basketball teams will be the newest members enshrined during Argo Weekend.
Stephanie McDonagh played and started in all 129 games for the Argos and helped UP advance to back-to-back Elite Eight appearances in the NAIA National Tournament. Stephanie was a two-time All-American for the Argos and is number four all-time in career scoring with 1,780 points. McDonagh is #3 in program history in career assists with 346, #3 in career rebounds with 758, #1 in career steals with 273, and has the single season steals record and single game steals record with 79 in a season and 10 in a game.
Tanner Boone was the first All-American in program history for Argo Cross Country placing third in the Marathon at the 2017 NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. 10 years following his graduation, Boone is still the all-time record holder in both the Half Marathon and the Marathon.
Ryan Smith is one of eight men's wrestlers to achieve at least three All-Americans in Argo Wrestling history placing sixth and eighth twice at the NAIA National Championships in his four years as an Argo. Smith is #8 all-time in career wins and is one of nine athletes to ever reach the century mark in program history.
Les Marsh was a member of the Argo men's basketball team graduating in 1977 and was named the most inspirational player his senior year after playing with a broken patella. Marsh was all-conference his junior year where he the team in rebounding and assists. Les has served on the board two different times and is now the founder and owner of Risk Management & Asset Conservation, Inc. where he has been one of the most active and influential supporters of Argo Athletics since his graduation.
Shawn Lau is one of eight men's wrestlers to achieve at least three All-Americans in Argo Wrestling history placing fourth and fifth twice at the NAIA National Championships in his four years as an Argo. Lau is #2 all-time in career pins with 44 and #7 all-time in career wins with 106 and is one of nine athletes to ever reach the century mark in program history.
Ryan O'Neil was a member of the Argo men's soccer team earning All-American recognition in both 2010 and 2011. O'Neil is the all-time points leader with 107, #1 in career goals with 50, and led the program to their first regular season and conference tournament championships and back-to-back sweet 16's in the National Tournament.
Argo Athletics is also inducting the 2014-2015 and 2015-2016 women's basketball teams that went a combined 48-21 and went to back-to-back Elite Eights in the NAIA National Tournament. Those teams were comprised of Elyce Donaldson, Ashley Crippen, Erin Legel, Mackenzie Owens, Molly Herron, Stephanie McDonagh, Darah Huertas-Vining, Kendalyn Brainard, Nneka Nnadi, Brice Henning, Mary Wilmore, Lindsey Abramson, Sidney Arant, Desirea Danner, Brittany Stegall, Paige Craig, Morgan Grier, Whitney George, Kalani Ulufale, Sydnee Burke, and Kalle Wilson, and were supported by coaches Bill Himmelberg, Jaci Heny, and athletic trainer Monica Thackery.
