Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Argos Come Up Short Versus Fighting Saints

HELENA, Mont. -- The University of Providence men's soccer program fell to Carroll College 1-0 Saturday night.

The Fighting Saints (1-0-1) controlled the beginning of the game, getting off four shots in the first seven minutes, but the Argos (0-2) had chance of their own in the 21st minute but freshman Dane Hager's shot was saved by the goalkeeper.

Carroll continued to pressure over the next 15 minutes with four shots on frame until a free kick from Nicolas Sanchez went off Pedro Rivera's head and into the back of the net to put the Fighting Saints ahead 1-0 in the 35th minute.

Both teams were able to get a shot off over the final 10 minutes but neither side was able to find the back of the net as UP went into the break trailing 1-0.

The Fighting Saints controlled the first 30 minutes of the second half firing off 11 shots to the Argos two shots but neither side could add a goal.

Following a lightning delay Carroll College was able to get a shot off the post, and despite a late shot from junior Sherry Msuku Jr., the Argos were unable to find the equalizer as UP fell to Carroll College 1-0.

The Argos will be back in action on Thursday, Sept. 3 when they host Spokane Colleges at 1:00 p.m. in Great Falls for a scrimmage.
