SALEM, Ore. -- The University of Providence men's soccer program defeated Corban University 1-0 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference opener Thursday night.
The Warriors (3-1) controlled the first 35 minutes, getting eight shots off to the Argos (1-2) zero, but senior
Teddy Benbow saved both attempts that came on frame.

Geovanni Lugo had a look at the goal, but his shot was just batted away by the Corban goalkeeper.
Corban had a chance with the clock ticking down to end the first half, but the shot was caught by Benbow as UP went into the break tied at zero.
Both teams went back-and-forth over the first 20 minutes of the second half until the 71
st minute when the Argos drew a foul just outside the box and gave Lugo a chance with a free kick, but his attempt was saved by the Warrior goalkeeper.
The Argos continued their momentum into the 74
th minute when Lugo found junior
Lucas Morais in the box and he chipped it past the goalkeeper to put UP in front 1-0.
Corban University threatened down the stretch with a couple near miss headers, but the Argo defense stood strong as Benbow completed the shutout and the Argos defeated Corban 1-0 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference opener.
The Argos will be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 19 when they head to Eugene, Ore. for a matchup with Bushnell University.
