EUGENE, Ore. -- The University of Providence women's soccer program defeated Bushell University 2-0 Saturday night.
The Beacons (1-2-2) controlled the first 25 minutes of the first half getting off four shots but were unable to get one on frame.
The Argos (1-4) answered with a shot from freshman
Jaelyn Chandonnet, but it was saved by the Bushnell goalkeeper.
UP continued their momentum over the final 20 minutes of the half with a pair of corners and a shot from senior
Shea Waters, but neither side had another chance on frame as UP went into the break tied at zero.
Both teams went back-and-forth to begin the second half but in the 54
th minute senior
Peyton Schmauch sent a ball through to Chandonnet who beat the goalkeeper to put the Argos in front 1-0.
The Argos continued to control possession over the next 10 minutes and broke through in the 65
th when freshman
Adele Gregory found Watson just outside the box and her shot went off the post and in to put UP ahead 2-0.
Bushnell had a few chances down the stretch, but the Argos defense stood strong not allowing a shot on goal over the final 25 minutes with junior
Chloe Pajaro completing the shutout as UP defeated Bushnell 2-0.
The Argos will be back in action on Thursday, Sept. 24 when they host Walla Walla University at 1:00 p.m. in Great Falls, Mont.
