Before coming to Great Falls, Sell was a graduate assistant for the women’s soccer program at NCAA Division II Malone University in Canton (OH.) Sell had previously spent a year as an assistant coach at Washington Catholic High School in Indiana at the end of 2018, following his return to the United States after 2 and half years playing professionally in Sweden for Strands IF through 2017-2018.

Sell played 3 years of collegiate soccer at NCAA Division II Oakland City University, captaining the side for 2 of those years. He led the 2013 team to a record number of regular season wins for the program and was named to the 2011 NCCAA Division I Mid-East Men’s Soccer All-Region Team and the 2013 NCCAA Men's Division I All-America Team. Having graduated in 2013, Sell spent 2014 as the assistant coach at Oakland City University.
