Steve Komac has established the University of Providence as one of the premier wrestling programs in the NAIA, bringing decades of coaching experience, championship success, and an unwavering commitment to developing student-athletes. Since taking over the Argos men's wrestling program in March of 2020, Komac has built a culture defined by excellence, accountability, and relentless work ethic, producing conference champions, All-Americans, national qualifiers, and nationally ranked teams.
Komac's coaching career spans more than three decades and includes success at both the high school and collegiate levels. Prior to joining the University of Providence, he spent 24 seasons as the head wrestling coach at Great Falls High School, transforming the Bison into one of Montana's premier programs. Under his leadership, Great Falls captured multiple Class AA State Championships, produced dozens of individual state champions, numerous All-Americans, and countless collegiate wrestlers. His teams were consistently recognized for their toughness, discipline, and commitment to excellence, earning Komac numerous Montana Coach of the Year honors.
Since arriving at Providence, Komac has elevated the Argos into perennial national contenders. Under his leadership, the program has consistently finished among the NAIA's top teams while producing conference champions, NAIA All-Americans, Academic All-Americans, and national finalists. His commitment to recruiting outstanding student-athletes and developing them into successful competitors and leaders has established a championship culture that extends well beyond the wrestling room.
Known for his technical expertise, tireless work ethic, and ability to mentor young men, Komac emphasizes discipline, accountability, and character alongside athletic achievement.
