Quick Recap: Junior guard
Stephanie McDonagh had 14 points, and senior guard
Nneka Nnadi posted 10, as UGF continued their undefeated season, notching a 49-43 win over the Menlo College Oaks.
The Lady Argos got off to a slow start in the game, making only three shots in the entire first quarter. Nnadi scored first, around the 6-minute mark, and again at 2 minutes. A
Jenna Randich jumper with just seconds left on the clock made the score 9-6 with the Oaks on top.
A strong performance from
Whitney George helped the Lady Argos to rebound from their error-prone first quarter. George posted 4 points, 4 rebounds, and a block in the second quarter, which helped to close the gap. Fewer mistakes from UGF helped the team, but Menlo still had the 3-point edge going into the half, 20-17.
McDonagh came right out of the locker room and fired off a 3-pointer to start the third quarter, which set the tone for UGF. At the end of the 10 minutes, the Lady Argos had taken the 34-33 lead.
Menlo refused to go down without a fight, however, and went on a 10-2 run to start the fourth quarter. UGF quickly recovered though, and 6 straight points by McDonagh once again put the Lady Argos on top to close out the game. UGF led only twice in the game, but they did so when it mattered.
