Lady Argos Start Slow, Get 77-58 Win Over Cal Maritime

Score: UGF 77, Cal Maritime 58

Quick Recap: Stephanie McDonagh and Jenna Randich each scored 19 points for the Lady Argos, as UGF got their fifth win of the season and remain undefeated. UGF shot 30 percent from beyond the arc in the game, with Randich going 4 of 7 from downtown.

The Lady Argos got off to a rough start, with Cal Maritime nabbing an 8-0 lead in the first quarter. UGF closed the gap to 4 points, and ended the quarter with CMA in the lead, 15-11.

The second quarter started with four straight points for Cal Maritime, but a Randich 3-pointer got the Lady Argos back into the game. UGF took the lead midway through the quarter on a McDonagh free throw, and back-to-back Lady Argo 3-pointers put them up until halftime. UGF went to the break with a 34-27 edge.

UGF came out firing in the third quarter, and quickly went on a 12-2 run. The Lady Argos stretched their lead to as many as 28 points, and ended the third quarter up 62-36.
 
The fourth quarter was more of the same, and the Lady Argos nabbed the 77-58 win over Cal Maritime. McDonagh stuffed the stat sheet, adding 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals to her 19 points.
 
For the Lady Argos:
  • UGF went perfect from the free throw line in the second half, shooting 7/7. They shot 86.7 percent overall.
  • The bench came up big for the Lady Argos, scoring 44 points in the game, 15 of them in the fourth quarter.
  • Whitney George was a force defensively for UGF, blocking the only 2 shots of the game, and rebounding 7 times. She also added a steal for the Lady Argos.
 
For the Keelhaulers:
  • ­Cal Maritime outscored UGF on points off turnovers, getting 14 points compared to 10 for the Lady Argos. UGF had 16 turnovers in the game, and the Keelhaulers had 15.
  • Kynnidi Ricardo was CMA's leading scorer, with 19 points.
