GREAT FALLS, Mont. – With their win over Montana Tech this past Friday, Argo basketball (12-16, 5-13) claimed the sixth spot in the Frontier Conference Tournament and will travel to third seeded (22) University of Montana – Western (19-11, 12-6) on Tuesday, March 1 for their first round game. Tip-off between the two teams will be at 7 p.m. in Dillon, Mont.
The season series between the two schools favors Western, with two wins over UGF in Dillon. The Argos stole a game from the Bulldogs in the McLaughlin Center with a buzzer-beating steal and layup from senior Darren Lockett.
UGF enters the Frontier Conference Tournament having won two of its last three games, including a 90-82 upset of (15) Carroll College. Their final game was an 87-71 loss to Lewis-Clark State College who the Argos will face in the second round on Friday, should they defeat Western in the first round.
The game will feature the top two defenses in the conference in allowed field goal percentage. Western leads the FC with defensive FGP of 40 while UGF allows 41 percent shooting from its opponents.
