Shooting Disparity Defines Argo Loss to #13 Carroll College

GREAT FALLS, Mont. – (13) Carroll College shot 63 percent from the field. The University of Great Falls shot 26 percent. That stat line is really the only think that you need to know about the Argo's 71-32 loss to the Fighting Saints. Simply put – Carroll made shots and UGF did not.

The game played out very similarly to when the two teams last played. That game, back on January 6 was a 94-56 loss for the Argos in Helena, Montana. While UGF kept the Saints well below the 90 point mark, the home court advantage didn't seem to make much of a difference.

UGF went 7-27 from the field in the first half and turned the ball over 10 times. While the Saints shot a blistering 60 percent in the first half, the Argo defense did force some sloppy play. Carroll also turned the ball over 10 times through the first 20 minutes.

Things played out pretty much the same way in the second half. Despite using his entire bench in an attempt to find someone, anyone with a relatively hot shooting touch, Head Coach Anthony Owens just couldn't find a lineup that presented a real scoring threat.

Freshman guard Quesly-Marie Noresias's driving ability to provide a few moments of offensive effectiveness in the second half. Noresias and junior guard Sergio Berkley finished as UGF's two leading scorers with 7 points each.

The Argo defense continued to be a thorn in Carroll's side in terms of keeping the ball. The Saints had 13 more turnovers in the final 20 minutes to finish with a total of 23.

The loss puts UGF's record below .500 for the first time this season at 10-11 (2-8). The game also marks the last time UGF will play in the McLaughlin Center until February 16. Until then the Argos will go on a four game road trip, starting with the University of Montana Western on February 2 at 7:30 p.m.
