CALDWELL, Idaho – Argo men's soccer outlasted the College of Idaho Yotes on Friday to secure a 2-1 win and improve to 6-4 on the season.
The Argos went ahead early as
Fernando Gutierrez passed a long through ball down the left side to
George Holloway who capitalized in the 1
st minute of the match to put the Argos on top, 1-0.
The match would remain tied going into the break.
Providence came out ready to play at the beginning of the second period, as the Argos committed four shots with none by the Yotes, netting the fourth one in the 51
st minute.
Alex Williams had a one touch on the ball from 12-yards out and scored off failed clearance to add some insurance in the for the Argos, 2-0.
The Yotes would bring the deficit down to one in the 59
th minute, 2-1. College of Idaho would slightly outshoot the Argos for the remainder of the match, 4-3, but they couldn't get anything to go as the Argos would seal the 2-1 victory.
The Argos led in shots, 13-10, and shots on goal, 8-6. The Argos also controlled the corners, 3-1, during the match.
