CALDWELL, Idaho – The University of Providence women's soccer team went up early but fell to the Yotes following a penalty kick in a hard-fought 2-1 match.
The Argos scored in the 5
th minute to go up early as
Bri Wikert passed a cross to the front of the 6-yard box and
Malena Lennon was able to flick the ball passed the goalie for the score, 1-0.
The Yotes wouldn't stay down for long however as they tied up the match a little over three minutes later in the 8
th minute.
The Yotes would outshoot the Argos by a slight margin, 5-4, to close out the first period at standstill, 1-1.
The Yotes started the final period outshooting the Argos, 6-1, but earned a penalty kick in the 55
th minute to take the lead for the first time, 1-2.
The Argos would then take the shot advantage to close the match, 5-3, but couldn't get any to land as the Yotes would take the match, 2-1.
The Argos led in saves and corner kicks, 4-2.
