HAVRE, Mont. – Argo men's basketball (6-1) scored in the triple-digits for the third time this season as they handled the Portland Bible College Wildcats, 102-65, to close out their Thanksgiving weekend tournament play on Saturday.
Jean-Frederic Daho led the Argos offensively, dropping 17 points in the win. Daho narrowly missed a double-double as he grabbed nine rebounds and an assist.
Jalen Shepard scored 16 points in the win, with a balanced effort that included five assists, five boards, and four boards.
Jaxen Hashley collected the Argos sole double-double as he grabbed 12 boards, while also collecting 10 points in the win.
The Argos opened the game on a 6-1 run. Providence continued to maintain their lead as they held a 12-6 advantage after five minutes of play. The Argos let things loose as they scored 10 unanswered to push their lead to 16, 22-6. Providence widened their lead as Daho knocked down two free throws to push the Argos lead to 20, 32-12. Jacob Wetzel, stretching their lead to 30 at the 3:07 mark in the first half, 46-16. Providence sustained their 30-point advantage as they outscored the Wildcats 10-9 to take a 31-point lead into the locker room, 56-25.
Another Argo run began the final 20 minutes of play as they produced an 11-1 rally capped off by a three from Wetzel to take a 40-point lead at the 15:08 minute mark, 67-27. The Argos and Wildcats traded baskets over 15 minutes of play as the Argos lead would extend to 48, but never dropped below 40 until the Wildcats hit a three with 1:10 to play to cut the deficit to 39. Two Wildcat field goals and two Argo free throws closed out the match as the Argos finished the weekend undefeated with the 37-point victory, 102-65.
