BILLINGS, Mont. – A second period goal is not enough in the Argos season opener as they fall by one to Mid-America Christian University, 2-1, in Billings, Montana on Saturday.
The Evangels started things off in the first period as Djibril Fofana put Mid-America Christian on the board first in the 6
th minute of play. Mid-America Christian pushed the lead to two as Rai Ramus notched a goal for the Evangels.
Mid-America Christian outshot the Argos 5-1 in the opening period, but both squads had two corners.
In the final period,
George Holloway put the Argos on the board following halftime as he scored a goal in the 48
th minute. Holloway received the ball from
Fernando Gutierrez and helped pull the Argos within one. Despite outshooting the Evangels 2-0 in the second period, the Argos couldn't get a second shot to fall.
Providence outshot the Evangels, 2-0, and led in corner kicks, 1-0, during the final 45 minutes of play.
