BILLINGS, Mont. – Providence men's soccer control possession much of the second half but can't overcome a first period deficit to fall 0-1 to Briar Cliff in their Labor Day matchup.
The Chargers scored on their third shot of the first period to take a 1-0 lead over the Argos in the first period. The Argos struggled to find shots in the opening period as they only make two, but both on goal.
The second half was much different for the Argos as they outshot the Chargers, 8-4. Briar Cliff didn't make another shot for the final 15 minutes of play as the Argos made six of their shots during that time, with three of them on goal. The Argos just couldn't get any of them to connect as their second-half rally came up slightly short.
Adrian Gomez had three shots, with two on target, while
George Holloway made two shots and one on goal.
