BILLINGS, Mont. – University of Providence volleyball fell in a hard-fought 3-0 loss to No. 6 Rocky Mountain Thursday at the Fortin Education Center.

The Battlin' Bears opened up the first set with a 10-1 run to take an early lead. A kill from
Averi Dyer and a Rocky Mountain attack error tacked on two more for the Argos, but the Battlin' Bears went on another 8-1 run to push the lead to 18-4. The Argos rallied to decrease the deficit to 8-19, but a 6-2 from Rocky closed out the set to put the Battlin' Bears on top, 1-0.
The Argos took control of the second set early as three kills from
Kelsey Shaver and an attack error put the Argos up early, 4-1. The Battlin' Bears responded with three of their own to tie things up at 4. The Argos tallied another point to take the lead again, but Rocky added three to take their first lead of the set, 5-7. A Rocky Mountain service error sparked a 3-0 run to take back the lead, 8-7. Shortly after, the Argos committed an attack error that sparked Rocky to take the lead back to lead, 12-9. Two Battlin' Bears errors brought the Argos back within one, but Rocky responded with an 8-1 run to push their lead to 20-12. The Battlin' Bears closed things out with a 5-3 run to take a 2-0 advantage.
The Battlin' Bears kept the pressure on as they opened up the third set with a 9-4 run. The Argos were not going down easy as they had a 9-3 run of their own to grab the lead at 13-12. The Argos continued their run as they tallied six more points to the Battlin' Bears two to push their lead to 19-14. The Battlin Bears rallied to garner six points as they Argos tallied on two more to bring the deficit to one, 21-20. The Argos added three more from kills by Shaver and
Lauren Brown with a Battlin' Bears error to bring the set to set point, 24-20. However, the Battlin' Bears responded with four of their own to tie the set up at 24. The squads battled but Rocky Mountain capitalized after an Argo error with a kill to seal the 30-28 win and take the match, 3-0.
