GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The University of Providence men's soccer team picked up their first win of the season against South Dakota School of Mines on Friday, 2-1.
The Argos came out strong as they earned goals from
Gudmundur Gudmundsson and
Carlos Heredia in the opening 45 minutes to take a 2-0 lead. The Hardrockers attempted to rally in the second half as they cut the deficit to one, but it wasn't enough as the Argos defense held the Hardrockers off to take the game.
The Argos outshot the Hardrockers, 8-3. Gudmundsson and
Alex Williams lead the team with two shots each, while teammate
Carlos Heredia was efficient with his one shot attempt scoring for the Argos.

The Argos will take to the pitch again for their home opener on September 14 as they will take on Eastern Oregon University in a 1 p.m. matchup.
