Lewiston, ID - Argo sophomore
Ben Kaul placed 2
nd in the Warrior Fall Invite in Lewiston, Idaho on Tuesday.
After scoring a 75 in his first round, Kaul shot 71 and 70 in the final two rounds to end up with a score of 216. He finished 11 strokes behind Carlos Davila of Lewis and Clark State.
"He has never played Lewiston Country Club before so in the practice round he learned quite a bit," head coach
Spencer Williams said. "After his first round of 75, he started to get a feel for the golf course. From there on out he shot three under the par the next two rounds to finish with an even par. Taking second place in an overall conference event is a great accomplishment, especially as a sophomore."
Jonny Clelak and
Colton Stodghill both finished tied for 31 with a total of 234. No other golfers competed for Providence, so a team score was not recorded.
"Individually, we're okay with this one," Williams said. "Ben did great. Colton did great in his first tournament. We're looking forward to getting a team together and seeing what we can do as a team in Boise for the conference championship."
On the women's side, freshman Keilar Jones finished tied for 32 with 184. She shot a 97 in the first round and improved by 10 strokes in the second.
"It was Kyler's first collegiate event as well," Williams said. "She was a little nervous on the first round, but improved by 10 shots in the second, which is very exciting for her. I'm very proud of her."
 Sydney Keller finished 43
rd with a score of 214. Those two were the only two to compete, so again a team score was not recorded.
Both teams won't compete again until the conference championship in the spring. The teams will use the time to practice, while Williams will also hit the road to recruit.
"The women's team is showing great potential," he said. "We have a couple of freshman on the team and we're looking forward to build around them for the future."
