Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Argos Fall to Warrios in 3

Great Falls, Mont. - Following a dominant four set victory over Montana Tech last week, the University of Providence women's volleyball team lost in straight sets at home to Lewis-Clark State. Despite keeping it close in all three sets, the Argos lost 23-25, 21-25, 18-25.

"There's something about playing in our own gym this year," head coach Arunas Duda said. "I really can't pinpoint it. I thought we were prepared. When we get uncomfortable, we haven't done a good job of responding at home to that. We just got to find a way that when we face adversity we can somehow push through it and overcome it because we're in every set. We just can't make plays down the set. That was frustrating."

Kelsey Shaver led the Argos with 18 kills.  Cydney Finberg-Roberts led the team with 28 assists. Averi Dyer led the team with 13 digs. Shaver also contributed 12 digs, while Finberg-Roberts and Sacha Legros had nine and eight, respectively. Duda thought the Argos, who are 6th in the nation in digs, struggled passing the ball tonight.

"I really didn't think we passed well," Duda said. "That was one of the things that we were excited about. Last time we were able to serve really tough against LC and really got them out of system. Today it kind of flip-flopped. I think that definitely was a major factor for today's outcome. Usually we're pretty tough in serve/receive but today we were out of sorts."

The Argos (5-3, 17-6) will now move to a 3rd place tie with Montana Tech in the Frontier Conference. They will have a chance to make up some ground against Montana-State Northern on Halloween Night at 7:00 p.m., where students are asked to wear costumes to the game.

"We have to find a way to be consistent," Duda said. "We're going to try and put them in those situations in practice where we have to face adversity and be a little bit tougher. Just find a way to push through when the set gets tight. We have a couple of days, kind of a short week to practice. Our next game is on Halloween so maybe we need a little craziness to get us over this hump."
